My mom's unique find at the Magnolia Market was a pig paper towel holder!
Questions or Comments?
If you know me, then you know I love watching reality TV and HGTV is no exception, especially when it comes to the show Fixer Upper. I love watching Chip and Joanna transform every house into something unique and beautiful. So when I got time off this summer, I knew I would have to take the opportunity to visit the Magnolia in Waco. I had a great time going to the market and the bakery and exploring Waco. But I didn't want this article to be all about my trip; I also wanted to share some ideas on how to take a great day trip this summer, no matter where you're going. Scroll for some Day Trip tips and photos from my time in Waco!
Magnolia Day Trip
-Don't Drive Too Far Away
If your destination is more than 2 or 3 hours away from where you live, it might be worth saving for an overnight trip. There are only so many hours in a day an you don't want all your memories from your trip to be in a car. Luckily, Waco is about 2 hours away from I live, so it was the perfect place to go for a fun summer day.
-Stick With 1 or 2 Things You Want To Do
Again, there are only so many hours in a day and you don't want to over schedule yourself. This really is important for all vacations, but especially for day trips because you have a limited amount of time. You'll want to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the things you wanted to do, so it's best to pick out 1 or 2 things. If you find yourself adding to much onto your "list of things to see" you should probably make it an overnight trip. For my mom and I, we knew the Magnolia was the main thing we wanted to see, so we didn't add too much more to that.
-Have a General Outline of Your Schedule
This is a good idea in order to know around when you'll eat lunch, get a snack, get home, etc. My mom and I knew we would be at Magnolia for several hours, so we planned to get a snack at the bakery when we first got there and then go to lunch when we were done exploring the shop and the gardens. We also knew we wanted to get home before dark so we had to make sure we left Waco by 6.
-Don't Stick Too Strictly To Your Schedule
Just like with any vacation, you want to give yourself time to explore and discover stuff you might not have known was there. I had no idea the Magnolia had such a pretty garden, but luckily we made sure we plenty of time to walk around and take pictures of the pretty flowers.
